Oxley Creek and Pelican Island walk

We went for a short 5 km walk the last day of the year, only a 15 min drive across the Brisbane river to Oxley. The walk lies in a serene patch of bird (more than 180 bird species) inhabited wetland in the middle of an agricultural and industrial area. At the entrance there is a picnic area and pillars indicating the water height during the floods of 1974 and 2011. Continual, heavy rain had fallen for three weeks, the water peaked at 6.6 metres height… We experienced a rain showers during our walk, luckily temperatures are still high enough.. We didn`t see any pelicans 😉
