Paronella Park

We initially didn’t plan to visit Paronella as based on the reviews I read upfront, I found it too tourist, but many Australians we met during our trip were so exited about it that we decided to visit it anyway. The Spanish José Paronella’s dream was to build a castle, he chose a special part of Australia and created Paronella Park. On 5ha beside Mena Creek Falls he built his castle, picnic area by the falls, tennis courts, bridges, a tunnel, and wrapped it up in an amazing range of 7,500 tropical plants and trees. José build the first hydroelectric plant to foresee power to the park and the castle. In 1935 the park opened to public to enjoy theatre, ballroom dancing, the gardens, swimming pool, and other leisure activities. The castle was destroyed several times by a fire, cyclones and floods, but every time it was rebuild. Paronella Park is eco-certified and heritage listed, it offers the option to freely stay overnight with your motorhome and gives you the option to visit the park during the day, evening and morning before 9 o’ clock. Indeed a not to be missed magic place in Queensland.
